All you need to know about 1st grade policies:
Bobcat Binders
>Goes home each day!
>Comes back to school each day!
>Daily Communication section is for ALL notes between parent and teacher
>Please make it a habit that your child comes home and checks their binder with you
>This is your child’s binder, not yours! **** This is a big one! Learning to take ownership over this binder is huge. If they forget it at home, PLEASE do not bring it up to school :) these are important learning moments. If you forget something then sometimes there are consequences. Learning to take responsibility for yourself is a big part of life! I know it's tough but it'll be worth it in the long-run! Thanks!
Behavior Policy
>Be KIND
>Positive Reinforcement policy
>open line of communication between parent and teacher
Transportation Changes
>If there is any change in transportation you must use the website to make changes!
*Will be discussed more at back to school morning.
Homework
>Should only take 20 minutes a day.
>Please read with your child every night.
>Reading Log
>No homework on Fridays
Absences
New EISD Attendance Policy
Eanes ISD now requires a note from the parents/guardians for all student absences. Please email [email protected] immediately regarding any absences your child may have.
- Include the student’s First and Last name with the date(s) and the reason(s) for the absence(s) and cc their teacher in the email.
- Any absence that does not have a note on file will remain unexcused on your student’s record until a note is received. If possible, please email before 11am to avoid the automated calls, emails, and texts from Eanes ISD when absent.
Family Travel Advance Notification Form. Please submit this form to office staff at least 5 days prior to the absence.
Housekeeping
>Snacks- Nutritional, and easy to clean up! I have spoons and forks, if needed. Our lunch is late this year and many kids are complaining of tummy aches, so please feel free to pack 1-2 snacks. There is nothing sadder than when I have a friend who doesn't have a snack- and I'm not allowed to give food out in our classroom :(
**I know that it's hard to get out the door in the morning but if you can set up a system where your child packs their own snack to guarantee that they have one-I think that it's a great way to give them a responsibility at home (and it'll even help you out)
>Water Bottles- flip top
>Light sweater or jacket to leave in room
>Write your child’s name on EVERYTHING!
Birthdays
>Your child will be recognized at Morning Assembly on his/her birthday.
>If you are having a party that does not involve the entire class, or all boys/all girls, please do not send birthday party invitations to school, but deliver them through an alternate route.
FIT (focused instructional time)
> Students will be placed in a 1st grade classroom that will specialize in a particular subject skill that needs to be either covered more in depth or enriched upon.
> F.I.T is fluid and changes as the needs of our students change.
>This time is also when GT, RTI, or other needs are met if it applies to your child.
