March is basically over. That was fast! Spring Break next week! I hope everyone has fun plans :)
This week is a review week, we won't be learning anything new but instead we'll be practicing and polishing skills that we've been working on for the past 9 weeks!
In math, fractions: your kiddo should be able to identify and define: fourths, quarters and halves. **Friendly reminder that on this upcoming 3rd quarter report card expectations continue to increase, so just because they were MET last quarter does not necessarily mean that they are meeting this quarters standards.
ALL of their counting backwards, forwards, 2's, 5's and 10's is rockin'. Their number sense has come so far since the beginning of the year!
In language arts, we are reviewing the welded sounds: AN, AM, ALL and Y as a VOWEL.
The kids are also researching a famous person and writing their own biography this week. I thought this would be a fun way to apply their researching skills along with a different type of non-fiction writing.
We have Kite DAY on THURSDAY at 1:50 at lower soccer field by bus lanes.
If I don't see you before break, be safe :) CV
week of january 15th
.Nothing like a little 3 day weekend.
Picking up where we left off.
Language Arts: NON FICTION, welded sounds -ung, ong...example: lung, song...when they are writing this phonics pattern-they will box the 3 letters because they "stick" together. Most of them are already applying this in their work. Makes my heart proud.
Math: we'll be reinforcing and reviewing tens and ones along with our focus of: expanded form. For example: the number 94...is made up of 9 tens...and 4 ones... so 90+4=94
Science: weather and seasons, along with nonfiction research!
Library is THURSDAY because of MLK holiday on Monday.

week of january 9th
Welcome back to reality! I hope everyone had a magical 2 weeks, I know I did :) I cannot wait to hear all the kiddos little stories. After long breaks I'm always so amazed by how much they grow up.
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for my generous class Holiday gift! I used the candle all during break and the lotion is sitting on my desk as we speak :) my husband especially thanks you for the gift card, so that he doesn't have to see one more charge to Nordstrom on our credit card :) You guys are amazing.
This week we'll be transitioning back in with classroom routines and expectations. Picking back up full swing in math, reviewing place value using tens and ones. No math HW this week. In language arts for the entire Q3 we'll be learning about non-fiction texts! So we'll begin that this week by researching Arctic animals. Our phonics pattern will be welded, or "glued" sounds ...like: ang & ing. During language arts and social studies we'll be talking about new year goals and what each student individually wants to set as a goal for the quarter. Exciting things! CV
